Gangnam (๊ฐ•๋‚จ)

Gangnam is the most well-known area in Seoul and also one of the most crowded. Itโ€™s like the Midtown of NY, with many casual restaurants, bars, and offices, including those of crypto companies, located nearby.

Chungdam (์ฒญ๋‹ด) / Apgujeong Rodeo (์••๊ตฌ์ • ๋กœ๋ฐ์˜ค)

Chungdam and Apgujeong Rodeo are like the 5th Avenue or Ginza of Seoul, where all the expensive brands and restaurants are located. The area is filled with fancy Michelin-style restaurants, upscale bars, and high-end clubs.

Sinsa (์‹ ์‚ฌ) / Garosu-gil (๊ฐ€๋กœ์ˆ˜๊ธธ)

Garosu-gil and Sinsa are located near Apgujeong Rodeo and Chungdam, offering a similar vibe. The area is known for its medical and beauty services, particularly skincare, as well as its array of restaurants and bars.

Seongsu (์„ฑ์ˆ˜)

Seongsu is the Brooklyn of Seoul, a neighborhood that has become popular relatively recently. It features small but charming spots with a hipster vibe.

Itaewon (์ดํƒœ์›) / Hannam (ํ•œ๋‚จ)

Itaewon was traditionally known as a place for foreigners due to the presence of the U.S. military before. However, recently it has also attracted many locals and features a variety of clubs. It's more popular for nightlife than daytime activitie

Myeongdong (๋ช…๋™)

Myeongdong is a very touristy area that locals usually avoid, but it can be convenient for visitors.

Food

Seoul provides a variety of selection of different cuisines from all over the world. You can definitely enjoy great traditional Korean dishes but can even find decent quality of others also. Here are some good Korean dishes that you should try!

K-BBQ: Beef, Pork, Chicken are the most common but if you wanna try something new give it a try on grilled eel or spicy stir-fried chicken (๋‹ญ๊ฐˆ๋น„)

image.png

Raw crabs marinated in soy sauce (๊ฐ„์žฅ๊ฒŒ์žฅ): This is the real cooked rice thief (๋ฐฅ๋„๋‘‘), if you are into crab dishes, this is a must-try! The combination of sweet soy sauce and raw crab is just fantastic.

image.png

Korean pancakes (์ „): Any ingredients that you can think of are mixed with wheat flours into pancakes. The most famous ones are seafood and green onion pancake (ํ•ด๋ฌผํŒŒ์ „), beef pancake (์œก์ „), kimchi pancake (๊น€์น˜์ „) but if you order assorted pancakes you can definitely try all of them in one dish + donโ€™t forget to try them with Korean rice wine/Makgelli (๋ง‰๊ฑธ๋ฆฌ), they go along with perfectly!

Raw fish (ํšŒ): There are a variety of raw seafood in Korea that you can enjoy including fish, shellfish, squid, etc. We mostly eat raw fish with soy sauce and red pepper paste (์ดˆ๊ณ ์ถ”์žฅ) with Japanese horseradish.

Korean soup (์ฐŒ๊ฐœ): Soups are one of the main dishes in Korea. Soy bean paste soup(๋œ์žฅ์ฐŒ๊ฐœ), Kimchi soup(๊น€์น˜์ฐŒ๊ฐœ), Soft tofu soup (์ˆœ๋‘๋ถ€์ฐŒ๊ฐœ) are the most famous ones and they are easily accessible in most of the restaurants. They are also very good for hangover cures :)
